Welcome to our Video Learning Site

MacSupportCasts is now open with video classrooms. No long term memberships. You can simple access the topic specific classroom you want and get the information you need today.

Our goal is to offer classrooms on everything Mac. We are starting with a few humble offerings and will be expanding each and every month as new video tutorial series are created by our own crew or by third party Mac experts.

There are two parts to MacSupportCasts, this news and update area where we can post important information about new classrooms or even news from the world of Apple, Mac, the Web and related information. The second area is the Video Learning Center listed above in the navigation bar. On that side we dedicate it entirely to video tutorials in one or more videos that are topic specific.

We hope you will enjoy the new MacSupportCasts and visit often as we expand our offerings.

Woz Remembers Steve Jobs

Macsupportcasts would not be here if Steve and Woz had not started. Thank You for having the determination, vision to start.

Thank you Steve Jobs for having the tenacity to stick with your vision through all the good and bad times. In the last 14 years you have been vindicated along with the Apple brand.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family and loved ones. We will miss you Steve.

Roque Security Software Effect Macs Too…

UnHappy MacWatch out folks! Our researchers at SophosLabs Canada alerted me this afternoon to the world's first JavaScript fake scanner trying to convince Mac users that their computers are infected by a virus.

This step is extra important on OS X as users will have to install the malware and enter in their administrative credentials for the privilege of infecting themselves.

Even worse, the attackers are poisoning search terms and images related to Mother's Day. Simply searching Google for seemingly innocent content to honor your mum could end up with a malware infection.

Fortunately you don't have to infect your own Mac to find out what the experience is like. We made this video so you can see it in action from the safety of whatever device you prefer to surf the internet from.

Watch this to see how it works and looks:

Hacker writes a Mac Trojan

virus-malware-icon-genericIn the world of business when you’re the “little guy” on the block nobody really takes notice of you. When you start to gain a foothold in your market, then things begin to change.

For a long time Apple and it’s products sat in the shadow of “bigger fish”. But now that the company has grown into a force in the computer world things we took for granted can’t be ignored now.

It seems that a “hacker” has written an easy to use Mac Trojan. All reports seem to indicate that it hasn’t been used yet but it shows that Apple has stepped into the spotlight of what Windows user’s have suffered for a long time. Macworld has the news posted and you can check out the opinions and details there.

Sparrow Lite

Sparrow_LiteSparrow Lite makes its debut in the Mac App Store.

Sparrow is “The New Mail for Mac”. Cult of Mac has a really short post about the release. Sparrow is a minimalistic Gmail client for the Mac. It looks a lot like a Twitter client on the surface.

The free Lite version allows you to use one Gmail account but you can see if Sparrow is a mail client that you can use. I use the full version of Sparrow and I love it. I’m looking forward to the implementation of IMAP which is currently being tested for the next release.

You can find out more about Sparrow at the Sparrow Blog.
